  CLUB OVERVIEW

The Loess Hills Wood Turning Club strives to promote the art of woodturning in the greater Omaha area.

   Meetings

On the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm the monthly gathering brings together woodturners from the area ranging in skill from expert to novice. Meetings include:
  - Business Meeting
  - Announcements
  - Show and Tell
  - Fellowship
  - Demonstrations
  - Raffles
  - Snacks

   Library

A library of books and videos about woodturning is available for club members. You can check out books at a club meeting and bring them back next month. The current list of available books is available here (.pdf)

   Shop Tours

Each month (usually on the last Saturday of the month), we have open house at one of the members shops. This event give us more time to get together and talk turning. The host of the event can use that time however they wish. They could show off their shop, ask for suggestions on how to set up their shop or get help to do a big project.

   Mentoring

A most valuable aspect of club membership is the chance to learn from turners with more experience than yourself. Besides the wonderfully informational demonstrations at every monthly meeting, several of the more experienced turners in the club are waiting to answer your questions and help you learn the fine art of woodturning.

   Progressive Collaborative

To encourage working together, a collection of partly finished turnings are available at each month's meeting. If you see something you would like to work on, take it home, do the next step and bring it back next month for someone else to continue with. The resulting work will be sold by the club to raise funds.

   Projects

Several charitable projects throughout the year give every member a chance to donate a turning or two for a good cause. Also, public turning demonstrations are available for area events in order to increase the communities awareness of woodturning.
