President’s Report:
By Gary Scott
It's amazing how
fast another year has come and gone. I
hope everyone had a chance to be with loved ones over the Holidays.
I want to personally
thank each and every one of you for another great year. And, I would like to
welcome our new members who have joined in 2008. It will be a great year!
Dues are due for
2008. Club dues are $25 and AAW dues
are $45. Even though You don't have to
join AAW, you are encouraged to do so because of the Insurance and other
benefits that the AAW gives us.
Dan and Jeff's demo
was a great start for the New Year and there will be some hands-on for
February. Don't forget the challenge
for the February meeting: 6 coves and 6 beads and a little straight
line skew work (good idea, it will make me practice one more thing and another
thing for show and tell).
I read an
interesting article in the paper the other day on the topic of the Holidays. It seems that many see this year shaping up
to be a bad holiday
season. Of course, their perspective is based on the
retail shopping Numbers that are not all that great. When did we get to the point that
Christmas was about
spending money? I think a hand-made
gift is more appreciated than store bought gifts. I started making gifts in October last
Year. This year it will be now, or very
shortly. Christmas is about more than
money to me - it is making gifts from conception with our hands, minds and
hearts. Most of my loved ones seem to
prefer them over doodads that anyone can buy with a few $$$ just about
anywhere.
If you were lucky
enough to get a new tool jig for Christmas, bring it in for show &
tell. Or, if you did get something
special for the shop that is too big to bring, take a photo of it in operation.
Gary
A positive attitude
is a magnet for positive results.
