Bill Grumbine Seminar - July 18, 19, 20
Program:
Saturday, July 18th, 9am - 4:30pm
Bill will demonstrate:
- Basic Bowl Turning - techniques of various cuts with the fingernail grind bowl gouge.
- Natural Edge bowl turning.
- Lunch.
- Bowl gouge clinic - Bill analyzes members gouges, suggests improvements, regrinds the gouge as discussed. Members can "test drive" the new grind on the lathe. Bring your favorite or "troublesome" bowl gouge to be analyzed - one gouge limit/person.
- Winged bowl (banana bowl), and/or winged bowl from crotch wood.
- Bowl coring demonstration.
- Spindle turning techniques (time permitting).
Bring your note pads, cameras, questions, (and a bowl gouge, if you like) Note: the bowl gouge clinic will be limited by time available, participants will be ranked by their date of registration - first come, first served, so register early.
Sunday, July 19th and Monday, July 20th, 9am - 4:30pm
Bill will teach:
- Each participant can turn the project(s) that appeal to them, based on what was presented on Saturday, or other project you select. Bowl or other cross-grain projects are suggested, spindle turning assistance available if you want.
- Learn and practice the cuts demonstrated by Bill on Saturday.
- Tool grinding instruction for your bowl gouge(s)
- An opportunity to sharpen your skills and extend you capabilities.
Hands-on participants should bring your own turning tools, based on the type of project(s) you want to work on.
